Most CTA advice is recycled bro-marketing nonsense. These 14 results come from real A/B tests on real client sites between 2024 and 2026. Sample sizes ranged from 8k to 240k visitors per variant.
Copy tests (the biggest lever)
- 'Get my free quote' beat 'Submit' by 31%.
- 'Start my 14-day trial' beat 'Sign up free' by 18%.
- 'See pricing' beat 'Get started' on a SaaS hero by 12%.
- First-person ('Get me a demo') beat second-person ('Get a demo') by 7–9% across 4 tests.
Color tests (smaller than you think)
- Orange beat green by 4% on one site, lost by 6% on another. Color is contextual — what matters is contrast against the background, not the hue.
- High-contrast button on a low-contrast page lifted CVR 11%.
Placement tests
- 01Above-the-fold CTA repeated every 1.5 viewports lifted scroll-depth conversions 22%.
- 02Sticky bottom-bar CTA on mobile: +14% CVR on commercial intent traffic.
- 03Removing competing 'Learn more' link next to primary CTA: +9%.
Microcopy that lowers anxiety
- 'No credit card required' below trial CTA: +6% to +11%.
- 'Cancel anytime' below subscribe CTA: +8%.
- 'Free, no obligation' below quote form: +5% to +13%.
The one mistake almost every site makes
Using the same CTA copy on every page. Your homepage CTA should not be the same as your pricing page CTA. Visitors on a pricing page have higher intent — give them 'Start trial', not 'Learn more'. This single change lifts most SaaS funnels 7–14%.
